Judy Holliday tunester ably demonstrating her vocal and comedy appeal. There 's also a good film album which has a couple of new songs and Dean Martin as love interest rather than Sidney Chaplin as in this stage soundtrack. The film one is slightly better....but this is the original. With " Just in time" and "The party's over" which have become strong standards it's a very appealing album.****.

A good souvenir from this tap-dancing show which includes a lot of the tapping from the chorus. As a great musical CD it is not so successful . Apart from2 Lullaby of Broadway1 and1 42nd street" the singing leaves a lot wanting and the orchestrations and vocals should be more exciting that this.***.

SUNSET BOULEVARD......REALLY USEFUL MUSIC.

It is an outstanding achievement to get almost a whole show onto a CD,but here it has been  successfully done.....almost. Glenn Close is perfect  as Norma Desmond although some people prefer the vocal professionalism of Patti LaPone. It is opening in the West End in April next year and we will get to see Glenn Closes's performance onstage, however this album is available and it is a five star treat.*****.

A somewhat undistinguished score unfortunately, and a question of bad timing prevented this musical to persuade audiences to buy tickets. From the album it all seems a lot of fun and there are a couple of catchy tunes but it is generally  thought of as a flop. There were a lot of distinguished people involved in this show but this was performed long before Superman was trendy with the release of the films.***.
