Streisand's version of the current West Ends revival with Sheridan Smith.  This show became famous and popular through Barbara Streisand's appearance in both the stage musical and the film.  I do not find the musical top notch Julie Styne and Bob Merrill....apart from People, and Don't rain, this is a rather lack-lustre score. Streisand makes it 4 stars ****.

An amazingly individual representation of political life two centuries ago in America. Set to very
up-to-date music with hip-hop and speak in -key performances it is an astounding CD which has improved on constant hearing. From the few clips I have seen the dancing hip-hop style and
chorus work are imaginative and spectacular. A modern musical on a dated period. After saying all this, I have to admit the whole album is a bit much to take, lacking in strong melodies and ballads.
nevertheless it's impressive.****.

A show that didn't work onstage on Broadway and closed quite quickly. Audiences were confused by the amount of scenes and the large cast. Too much for one musical....however it has produced a superb cast album. One listens to the album and one is ready  to see the show.Highly recommended.*****.

The forerunner to HAMILTON with many names associated with In the Heights. This different approach to Musical Theatre is excellent for live audiences but does not always work on sound recording CDs. It depends on your attraction to the old style musicals with catchy choruses and heartfelt ballads. There are some of these on this CD but often some tracks feel like filler which
on the stage they are not. A matter of choice. ****.
